AyurvastraĀ is a branch of Ayurveda, the ancient 5,000 year old Indian system of Vedic healthcare.
In Sanskrit,Ā AyurĀ is health,Ā andĀ VastraĀ is clothing; i.e. healthy fabrics.
As per Ayurveda and the Indian Vedic trĀ aditions, the human body is made up of 5 elements (pancha-bootha). Pancha Bootha includes Air, Water, Fire, Space, and Earth and is designed with 5 machines - Eyes, Ears, Nose, Mouth, and Skin. The skin is the largest organ, which covers our vital organs.
Ayurvastra fabrics are dyed usingĀ medicinally-rich herbs. The fabric becomes a mediator in transferring the medicinal properties of the herbs to the skin. It also acts as a second layer of the skin and therefore, promotes health.
The skin has a characteristic to observe whatever applied on it and also emit sweat to release the toxins from the body. On wearing Ayurvastra fabrics, an environment is created where the fabric acts as a second layer, transferring the healthy properties of the herbs into the body. It also promotes immunity in our body, thus preventing ailments or health dosha(s).
